Top 7 Sites for Freelance Writers

If you’re a freelance writer then it’s important that you find the right site to advertise your services but with so many out there, which is the best for you? Here are the top 7 sites for freelance writers.
1) UpWork – One of the largest platforms for freelance writing, UpWork will allow you to reach a large portion of potential customers for jobs such as blog & article writing, creative writing and even editing. Furthermore, UpWork has a system that helps detect any potential fake employers to ensure you don’t waste time on jobs you won’t be paid for.
2) Fiverr – What started as a site where you could post a job for only $5.00, Fiverr has expanded and grown rapidly since. Writers can choose to either offer potential customers a per-job rate or hourly rate for their work. However, be prepared to be hit with fees for completing work with Fiverr. For example, a $5 job will only provide you with $3.58 (after PayPal and Fiverr fees).
3) Freelancer – Easily find content creation jobs with Freelancer. Find jobs posted by interested parties and employers, bid on them and get accepted for the job quickly. However, freelancers may have to upgrade to a paid account if they wish to submit more than 8 proposals per month.
4) Freelance Writing Gigs – Unlike the other sites, Freelance Writing Gigs has been created with freelancers in mind. To ensure this, there is no fee at all for freelancers. Furthermore, it compiles results from other online sources to give you a list of jobs in one place! However, also unlike other sites, you will need to have increased interaction as jobs are not guaranteed. You will need to discuss terms, handle payments, deal with disputes etc.
5) PeoplePerHour – PeoplePerHour is a popular global freelance platform that is a great option for writers. A secure payment system ensures that buyers always have funds for jobs that they list so that you won’t have to worry about payments. Sellers will only have 15 free job bids per month and will need to purchase further bids. Additionally, there is a 20% fee on the first £500 you make and then 5% thereafter.
6) Guru – Guru is another platform that makes getting freelance writer jobs extremely easy. Whilst not as large as some of the other sites, it has a healthy number of frequent jobs that you can apply for. However, some users have had issues with payments in the past from employers/buyers so it may be wise to proceed with caution.
7) WordClerks – WordClerks is a dedicated platform for hiring and selling content including article writing, forum posts, and website content. One issue with WordClerks is that it is much smaller than other sites which may result in fewer jobs available for you. However, you may be able to use that to your advantage when jobs are posted as you will have less competition when bidding on jobs.
